Ayurveda's global trends being discussed

A five-day international conference and expo on Ayurveda began at Mamallapuram, about 100 kms from here today, having 'Ayurveda-where science meets consciousness' as the main theme.

Educating the Indian Ayurveda community about the global trends and motivating the students and practitioners to learn and apply Ayurveda in its authentic totality, formed part of discussions on the opening day.

Sheela Rani Chunkath, Secretary, Health and Family Welfare department of Tamil Nadu government inaugurated the conference.

Nearly 600 participants from all over India and abroad are attending the conference when Ayurveda was 'in danger of dilution and distortion.'

Punarnava Ayurveda, a Coimbatore-based authentic Ayurveda services and consulting company is hosting the conference in which several experts including Dr Deepak Chopra, Dr Hari Sharma, and Dr Robert Svoboda are attending.

Ayurveda Medical Association of India, All India Ayurveda Congress and International Ayurveda Foundation, are jointly organising the meet. (Our Correspondent)"
